" ... a miracle to find senior residence that is run by a loving and caring family. My mother was blessed to have found such a home ..."

The story of how Redwood Villa began is a unique because it is truly about family and dedication to the care of others.

It began in 1949 when the Cappelletti Family came to America from Switzerland. Florio, Caroline and their 2 young children arrived in California after a nine day voyage and a 3 day train ride. Once they were settled Mr. Cappelletti immediately went to work as a janitor/handy man at a care facility to support his family. Florio did not speak any English, but soon he and his wife Caroline managed to purchase a home and turn it into a “care home”.

This led to the design and building of Julia Convalescent Facility in 1953. It was a state of the art Sanitarium that stood on the corner of Montecito Avenue and Sierra Vista in Mountain View for 50 years. Florio & Caroline’s son John was active in the everyday duties at the Julia facility which led him to follow in his parents footsteps. Soon after graduating college John saw a growing need for an Independent Living Community in Mountain View which led to Redwood Villa Retirement Residence being built in 1975 adjacent to the Julia facility.

Over the thirty plus years the Redwood Villa has served the community of Mountain View. Three generations of Cappelletti's have dedicated themselves to maintaining it as a beacon of quality and caring service and as a comfortable and secure home that represents the best of independent retirement living. Whether you’re looking for a retirement residence for yourself or a loved one we hope that you will find time to come and see for yourself that Redwood Villa is deserving of its reputation.
